Hi I'm Tess
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to an attentive and authentic counselling relationship, which prioritises your individuality. My approach is always client-centred and grounded in trauma-informed care.
My mission is to empower you to share your story and explore your thoughts and emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
My dedicated therapy room is surrounded by trees with beautiful rural views. The healing and grounding power of the natural world will be an ever-changing companion to our work.
If you are ready to find more clarity, calm and reconnection in your life, then please contact me and we can arrange a free 15-minute telephone consultation.

My Approach
I work integratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. My practice is rooted in a strong client-centred ethos, so our work will be collaborative and tailored to your needs. You will remain in control of your therapeutic journey throughout.
I work with warmth and compassion, offering a supportive and respectful space where you can share your story, deepen your self-understanding, and find meaningful ways to move forward. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to help you access your inner resources and feel able to cope with life’s challenges as they arise.
My approach is trauma-informed and may include psychoeducation and mindfulness where these are helpful. I also believe that connection to the natural world is important for wellbeing and we can strengthen this connection by using the private space outside my therapy room, amongst the trees.
I work with adults aged 18 and over from all gender identities, sexualities, races, nationalities, cultures, and beliefs. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent clients, particularly those with ADHD. I recognise the wider social contexts that shape people’s lives and seek to acknowledge how oppression and discrimination can affect mental health and wellbeing.

My Qualifications and Experience
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in line with their rigorous ethical standards, as outlined in their ethical framework.
I have particular experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse, childhood abuse, and complex trauma. I have also worked with a wide range of other issues, including physical illness, identity and sexuality, discrimination, relationship difficulties, family dynamics, parenting anxiety, confidence and self-esteem, anxiety and depression, loss and bereavement, alcohol misuse, shame, self-harm, and
suicidality.

My Background
Before becoming a therapist, I worked within the Higher Education sector. I valued my work with students, staff, and academics, but often felt like something was missing. I felt drawn towards supporting others at a deeper, more psychological level. At times of difficulty and loss in my own life I have turned to therapy, giving me firsthand experience of its power to hold, support and transform. In my own moments of darkness therapy helped me to find the light.
